Current Mission

Ivan and Jennifer Rasch

For several years we at Redeemer have supported the Rasch family as they served as our missionaries in Nigeria, until the political situation there caused the LCMS mission board to pull them out for their own safety and relocate them to Ghana.  (Both Nigeria and Ghana are in West Africa.)  But now it has become necessary for them to resign from overseas missionary service in order to help care for Ivan’s brother Michael, who has muscular dystrophy.  This will be quite a change for Ivan, since he has lived his whole life in Africa!  His parents were missionaries in Nigeria, so he grew up there, attending boarding school in Jos together with the Bruns children.  After graduating from Concordia in Seward and marrying Jennifer, they returned to Nigeria to serve as teachers in the same school in Jos that he had attended as a child.  Ivan requests our continued prayers for his family as they adjust to their new roles.  And we look forward to their visit and presentation in Bible Class on July 20, as they make their final report on their ministry in Africa.  Let’s have a good turn-out and give our blessing and encouragement as they undertake this new ministry!!
